Aizawl: The Mizoram government on Monday said the state has adequate stocks of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and fuel, seeking to allay concerns over possible shortages amid the ongoing conflict in West Asia.

In a statement, the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department said it was monitoring supply chains to ensure there are no disruptions and urged the public not to resort to panic buying.

According to official data, a total of 39,988 domestic LPG cylinders (14.2 kg) are available in the state, including 13,801 with distributors and 26,187 in transit.

For commercial LPG (19 kg), 824 cylinders are available, of which 512 are with distributors and 312 are in transit.

Fuel stocks are also sufficient, the department said. Petrol availability stands at 1,743.3 kilolitres, while diesel stocks total 1,981.2 kilolitres.

Officials said supply lines for both fuel and cooking gas remain stable and are being closely monitored to meet daily demand.
