Mizoram ranks second least corrupt state in India, says CM Lalduhoma
Aizawl: Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma on Tuesday claimed that the Christian-dominated state holds the distinction of being the second least corrupt state in the country.
Speaking at the celebration of the diamond jubilee (60 years) by Mara Students' Organisation (MSO) here, Lalduhoma said his government has been making massive efforts to develop the youth.
He said that the ZPM government has so far created 515 new jobs since its formation in December 2023 till August this year.
He said the government has so far approved 2,087 posts for direct or open recruitment and 532 others for limited departmental exams.
Lalduhoma said that Mizoram now holds the distinction of being the second least corrupt state in the country.
"According to a researcher, our state ranks second least corrupt in the country. This is a milestone for our state," the first time Chief Minister said.
He urged the students to collaborate with the government to fight against corruption in order to make Mizoram a corruption-free state.
Lalduhoma also said that Mizoram was one of the best-performing states in the Northeast in terms of tourist attractions.
Earlier, the Chief Minister had said that 5.2 lakh tourists visited Mizoram in 2024, and the tourist footfall has increased by 139.5 per cent compared to the previous year.
He said the number of tourists is expected to rise exponentially as the new railway line up to Sairang, about 20 km from Aizawl, has brought the state under the country's railway map for the first time.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Bairabi-Sairang railway line, one of the most challenging projects in Indian Railway history, on September 13.
The railway line links Mizoram's capital, Aizawl, with the rest of the country through Assam's Silchar town. Officials said that the number of tourists has increased significantly after the opening of the new railway line.
