Guwahati: Pachhunga University College (PUC) in Mizoram has entered into a new academic partnership with MGH Korea to introduce a Korean language course on campus, with classes set to begin on January 27, 2026.

The collaboration was formalised today at the Principal’s Conference Hall, where PUC Principal Prof. H. Lalthanzara and MGH Korea representative Kim Jungae signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

During the ceremony, Prof. Lalthanzara emphasised that the initiative aligns with the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which encourages institutions to equip students for global opportunities.

He said that offering Korean language studies marks another step in PUC’s efforts to expand international exposure and deepen academic ties with institutions abroad.

As part of the agreement, MGH Korea will depute certified instructors to conduct the classes. The programme will start with a three-month beginner-level module priced at Rs 10,000. Prof. Lalthanzara pointed out that similar courses elsewhere usually cost about Rs 15,000, making PUC’s offering more accessible for students.

PUC is currently preparing classroom spaces and will soon begin accepting applications from interested students. The administration has already reviewed the necessary academic and logistical arrangements to ensure smooth implementation.

MGH Korea operates government-authorised Korean language programmes in Canada, India, and Myanmar. Its lead educator, Dr. Sangjoon Lee—a professor of industrial engineering at Hanyang University—has worked globally in quality control with companies such as Samsung and LG.

This collaboration adds to PUC’s growing list of international language initiatives. On October 28, 2025, the college signed an MoU with JACEEX LL Ltd., Guwahati, to introduce Japanese language courses. With the addition of Korean, PUC continues expanding world-language learning opportunities for students across Mizoram.
