Aizawl: A woman belonging to Myanmar was arrested for allegedly possessing heroin worth Rs. 42.7 lakh from Champhai in Mizoram.

As per an official statement, the woman was nabbed from Zokhawthar village in east Mizoram's Champhai district.

She was caught based on a specific input.

Acting on the input, the paramilitary force along with the Mizoram police launched a joint operation at Zokhawthar.

During the operation, the team found 61 grams of heroin in the possession of the said accused.

The entire consignment of heroin and the accused were handed over to state police in Zokhawthar, the statement added. 

On further investigating it was found that the consignment was worth Rs 42.7 lakh.

An investigation has been initiated to trace the origin and destination of the seized heroin.
