Mizoram: Myanmar woman arrested in Aizawl with gold biscuit worth Rs 13.06 lakh

Aizawl: A 41-year-old woman from Myanmar was arrested in Aizawl for possessing a gold biscuit worth Rs. 13 lakh in a joint operation by Assam Rifles and Mizoram Police, an official said on Friday.

The operation was launched in Zuangtui on the northern outskirts of Aizawl on August 24 following intelligence inputs, according to the defence spokesperson.

During the operation, the security personnel recovered a gold biscuit weighing approximately 82 grams and valued at Rs. 13.06 lakh, she said.

The accused was handed over to Bawngkawn Police Station in Aizawl, while the recovered gold biscuit was subsequently handed over to the Customs authorities for further legal proceedings, she added.
