Mizoram: Myanmar national arrested for allegedly killing friend in Kolasib
Aizawl: A 54-year-old Myanmar national has been arrested for allegedly killing his friend in a farm hut in Mizoram's Kolasib district near the Assam border, a police officer said on Friday.
The incident occurred on Thursday when the accused Lalhlimpuia, a resident of Pandaw village in Myanmar, attacked his comrade Tinchiauva (58) of Myanmar's Mangkheng village with a dao in a fit of rage, the officer said.
The victim died on the spot, sustaining injuries on his neck, chest, and left arm.
The police officer said that the two had been camping at a farm hut near the Dumkhel cultivation area, about 12 km from Hortoki in Kolasib district, which falls under the jurisdiction of Bairabi police.
They had been looking after a farm owned by an Aizawl resident there for quite some time.
It is believed that the two had engaged in an altercation under the influence of alcohol before the incident, the police officer said.
On being informed about the incident, the police team rushed to the site and arrested Lalhlimpuia from a nearby farmhouse. The accused was charged with murder.
The victim's body was taken to Bairabi primary health centre and handed over to his relatives after a postmortem examination on Thursday evening, the officer added.
