Mizoram: IOCL rules out LPG shortage, urges consumers to avoid panic booking
Aizawl: Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) on Monday said LPG supply in the country remains stable despite ongoing geopolitical developments affecting global energy markets, assuring uninterrupted delivery and urging consumers to avoid panic booking.
Addressing a press conference in Aizawl, sales manager (Aizawl-II) Diganta Chaudhury said the Corporation continues to prioritise domestic LPG requirements, maintaining a closely monitored supply chain to ensure timely delivery.
He said Indian Oil is currently supplying LPG to around 2.97 lakh households in Mizoram, with daily deliveries of about 8,000 cylinders — consistent with pre-crisis levels.
To support local businesses, the Corporation has increased commercial LPG allocation to nearly 70% of pre-crisis levels, he added.
Officials said consumers are being encouraged to use digital booking platforms such as SMS and IVRS to streamline refill requests. At present, around 25,000 refill bookings are being received through these channels.
The Corporation has also introduced Delivery Authentication Codes (DAC-OTP) to ensure that cylinders are delivered to genuine consumers.
In coordination with the state government, Indian Oil has stepped up measures to curb black marketing and hoarding. Multiple teams are conducting surprise inspections of LPG distributorships, while data analytics tools are being used to monitor performance and detect irregularities.
Officials said several raids have already been carried out, and strict action is being taken against distributors found violating norms.
Reiterating that there is no shortage of LPG, Indian Oil advised consumers against unnecessary queuing or stockpiling.
“Supply remains normal and stable. There is no need for panic booking,” officials said.
The Corporation has also doubled the allocation of 5 kg Free Trade LPG cylinders to support migrant labourers and other vulnerable groups, Chaudhury said, adding that Indian Oil remains committed to ensuring transparent distribution and uninterrupted supply.
