Massive storm hit several parts of Mizoram on Easter

AIZAWL: A gusty wind accompanied by heavy rains hit different parts of Mizoram on Easter morning leaving a trail of destruction.

However, no casualties were reported in the incident.

A church building belonging to United Pentecostal Church (UPC) at Lungtan village in east Mizoram's Champhai district collapsed and another church building at Sialsuk in Aizawl district was also damaged by the gale.

 A pandal, which is being erected at East Lungdar in Serchhip district, to host the general conference of middle-aged men wing (pavalai pawl) of the Presbyterian Church between April 12 and April 13, has also been completely damaged by storm.

Besides, an Assam-type building in Champhai's Rashi locality and several houses at Baktawng village in Aizawl district were either fully or partly damaged.

Detailed reports of destruction from other districts are yet to come in at the time of filing this report.
