Houses demolished for national highway project in Mizoram

AIZAWL: At least five houses in Lunglei district of Mizoram were dismantled on Tuesday (March 19) to make way for a national highway project.

This was revealed in in a statement released on Tuesday (March 19).

The owners of these houses, situated in Zobawk South, had been duly compensated and had been served eviction notices on multiple occasions.

Despite repeated warnings, they failed to vacate the premises, the statement noted.

The demolition was carried out using an earthmover, as per the statement.

Prior to this, five houses in Tawipui South and Thualthu villages in Mizoram were also demolished.

Additionally, one house each in Zobawk North and Dawn villages in Lunglei district of Mizoram are also scheduled for demolition on Wednesday (March 20).
