Ex-IAS officer Lalmalsawma appointed chairperson of Mizoram Lokayukta
AIZAWL: Retired Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Lalmalsawma has been appointed as the chairperson of Mizoram Lokayukta.
Mizoram governor Dr Hari Babu Kambhampati, administered the oath of office to retired IAS officer Lalmalsawma as the new chairperson of Mizoram Lokayukta.
Lalmalsawma, a former IAS officer, belongs to the 1983-batch of Arunachal Goa Mizoram and Union Territory (AGMUT) cadre.
With a bureaucratic career spanning over 35 years, Lalmalsawma has served in various capacities across Delhi, Goa, Mizoram, and the central government.
His expertise extends across diverse sectors including finance, education, health, SC/ST/OBC welfare, and general administration.

Lalmalsawma, a distinguished bureaucrat, served as the director at the ministry of human resource development from 1996 to 2000.
During his tenure as the chief electoral officer (CEO), which lasted for more than eight years, he played a pivotal role in the delimitation of Mizoram assembly constituencies in 2005.
Additionally, he garnered international recognition when he was selected as one of the four international observers from India for the Palestine elections in January 2015.
