Mizoram: Three, including Myanmar national, die in sand digging accident

AIZAWL: At least three individuals, including a Myanmar national, lost their lives in a tragic accident while digging sand along the banks of the Tiau River in Champhai district of Mizoram.

The incident took place on Thursday (June 27), according to Mizoram police.

The incident occurred around 11 AM near Melbuk village when a section of the riverbank collapsed during the sand digging operation.

A Mizoram police officer stated that two individuals died instantly, while the Myanmar national succumbed to his injuries while on way to a nearby hospital.

Additionally, one person was injured in the incident and has been admitted to Champhai district hospital in Mizoram for treatment.

Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.
