Mizoram: Highway collapse disrupts travel between Aizawl and Lengpui airport

AIZAWL: Travel between Aizawl and Lengpui airport in Mizoram was severely disrupted on Tuesday (July 09) evening after a section of the highway linking the two locations collapsed.

The incident, which officials attribute to heavy rainfall, has rendered the road impassable, stranding several travelers.

According to officials, more than half of the highway has given way, with visible fissures and cracks suggesting further deterioration is likely.

As a result, authorities warn that repair efforts may take some time to complete.

In response to the collapse, the Aizawl district administration in Mizoram has advised travelers to use alternative routes.

Motorists have been asked to take an older road or a diversion via Buichali to reach Lengpui Airport from Aizawl.
