Meghalaya: VPP rejects UDP's regional alliance offer
Shillong: The Voice of the People Party (VPP) has declined the United Democratic Party's (UDP) invitation to join the Regional Democratic Alliance in Meghalaya, citing fundamental differences in principles and ideologies.
Ricky AJ Syngkon, VPP's Lok Sabha member, emphasized that the decision stems from the party's unwavering commitment to its core values.
"We cannot consider an alliance that would compromise our principles," Syngkon stated.
He claimed that the decision is not driven by a desire for a separate identity, but rather a steadfast adherence to the party's ideological framework.
The UDP, the largest regional party with 12 MLAs in the 60-member House, had extended an olive branch to all regional parties, including the VPP, to unite under the Regional Democratic Alliance banner.
