Shillong: The Voice of the People Party (VPP) asserted that all members of the National People’s Party-led Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) coalition, comprising legislators, have a documented history of opposing the implementation of the Inner Line Permit (ILP) in the state.

Speaking on behalf of the VPP, spokesperson Batskhem Myrboh expressed distrust towards the MDA government constituents, citing their past stance against ILP.

Myrboh emphasized that this stance was consistent since 2023, highlighting the Assembly's previous resolution advocating for ILP implementation, which he believes hasn't been earnestly pursued by the involved members.

Myrboh criticized the MDA members for what he described as lukewarm commitment towards ILP, attributing the failure to implement it to both the state government and the central government's inaction.

He questioned the sincerity of the commitment made by the legislators and speculated on potential undisclosed engagements regarding ILP.

The VPP spokesperson pledged to address the issue responsibly, acknowledging its complexity.
