The designated area encompasses 107 acres currently under the Soil & Water Conservation Department, which includes the Conservation Training Institute, and an additional 27 acres belonging to the Agriculture and Farmer's Welfare Department.

This decision comes after a meeting led by Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma last month.

The Investment Meghalaya Authority (IMA) will be responsible for acquiring the land for the industrial estate's development.

Both departments involved will be required to submit land maps and assist with transferring the plots to the IMA.

The IMA itself is a recently established agency replacing the Single Window Agency formed in 1995. Its purpose is to streamline the investment approval process and improve Meghalaya's business environment.
