Meghalaya: Shillong to host JK Architect of Year Awards 2026 Jury Meeting

Shillong: Architecture enthusiasts, leading professionals and students are set to gather in Shillong as the 35th JK Architect of the Year (AYA) Awards commences its Jury Meeting and Entries Exhibition on March 13 and 14.

Organised by JK Cement Ltd., the prestigious annual awards event will transform the hill city—often referred to as the “Scotland of the East”—into a hub of architectural innovation, creativity and design excellence.

The two-day programme will feature an exclusive Entries Exhibition showcasing a diverse range of architectural projects competing across 13 distinguished award categories, stated a press statement.

Students from architecture colleges in and around the region will have the opportunity to closely examine cutting-edge designs and interact with leading practitioners, offering rare exposure to contemporary architectural practices, it said.

Eminent architects from across India and several other countries will convene for the jury deliberations, evaluating entries through rigorous assessment and professional scrutiny. The jury meeting is expected to serve as a dynamic forum for exchange of ideas and critical perspectives, reflecting the breadth of talent within the architecture fraternity.

The event will culminate in the Winner’s Announcement Ceremony on March 14. The ceremony is expected to be attended by government officials, local architects and senior members of the construction industry, underscoring the regional and national significance of the awards.
