Meghalaya: Richard Marx, Yellow Claw to headline Me’gong Festival 2025 in Garo Hills
Shillong: Meghalaya’s cultural calendar gets a boost as the Me’gong Festival returns to Tura on December 5 and 6.
The 2025 edition will feature international stars Richard Marx and Yellow Claw, along with Bollywood singers Kanika Kapoor and Neeti Mohan.
The festival highlights Meghalaya’s growing cultural economy, part of Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma’s vision where festivals promote tourism, livelihoods, and community-led growth.
Over the years, Me’gong has become one of Meghalaya’s major cultural events. The 2024 edition drew over 3 lakh visitors in two days, one of the largest footfalls in the Northeast.
The festival also supports local businesses, from hospitality and transport to artisans, food vendors, and youth entrepreneurs, boosting economic opportunities and establishing the Garo Hills as a cultural and tourism hub.
Alongside global stars, local bands like Rough Road, Hoi Hoi Makbil, Haystack Ladies, G-Hills Finest, Crack Gang, and Ahaia will perform, ensuring a vibrant mix of music for visitors.
In 2024, the iconic Swedish rock band EUROPE performed in Northeast India for the first time.
Visitors can enjoy authentic Garo cuisine, craft exhibitions, weaving workshops, bamboo artistry, and beaded jewellery that showcase the region’s craftsmanship.
The festival follows sustainable practices, including zero-plastic operations and community-led waste management.
Me’gong plays a key role in Meghalaya’s tourism strategy, helping expand infrastructure, support community tourism, and ensure benefits reach all regions. Once underexplored, the Garo Hills have now become a prominent cultural and adventure tourism destination.
With global performers, local talent, indigenous experiences, and eco-friendly practices, Me’gong Festival 2025 aims to make the Garo Hills a global cultural stage once again.
Updates on tickets, schedules, and highlights will be available on the Meghalaya Tourism website and official social media channels.
This December, Meghalaya welcomes visitors from across India and the world to experience the Garo Hills at their cultural and celebratory best.
