Meghalaya: Pala accuses MDA of using illicit funds to lure opposition MLAs
Guwahati: Meghalaya Congress leader Vincent H Pala has launched a scathing attack on the NPP-led MDA government, alleging that it is attempting to eliminate opposition parties by using "illegal money" obtained from drugs, coal mining, and contract work manipulation.
Pala's remarks come amid reports that three Congress MLAs are likely to defect to the NPP.

He claimed that these MLAs are being enticed with promises of development projects, such as setting up blocks and building roads, but emphasized that these promises are hollow.
The MPCC president warned his party's MLAs against falling prey to the NPP's tactics, citing the example of 17 MLAs who defected in 2021, only to lose elections later.

He described the NPP's actions as a desperate attempt to destroy the Congress party, particularly ahead of the Gambegre bye-election and MDC elections.
Pala also criticized NPP ministers for issuing instant cheques and making promises of development in Gambegre, despite their own constituencies lacking basic infrastructure.
