Guwahati: Opposition Chief Whip at the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly, Ronnie V. Lyngdoh has expressed grave concern over the devastating impact of climate change in the state.

Attributing the recent floods and landslides in West and South Garo Hills to human activity, Lyngdoh emphasized that climate change is a global crisis requiring immediate attention.

He said, "The unfortunate events in Meghalaya, particularly in Garo Hills, are a wake-up call. Human activities are largely responsible for this devastation, and it's high time we take proactive action.

He called for the immediate need to promote cleaner energy and increase green cover to combat climate change.

He also highlighted the need for stricter regulations on tree cutting and participation in global environmental protection efforts.
