Meghalaya: National Lok Adalat resolves 186 cases worth Rs 1.66 crore
Guwahati: The National Lok Adalat held across Meghalaya on Saturday heard 653 cases, including 246 pre-litigation matters and 407 pending cases.
Out of these, 186 cases were settled, with a total settlement amount of Rs 1.66 crore.
The Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority organised the National Lok Adalat under the guidance of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA).
Proceedings were conducted at the High Court of Meghalaya as well as in all districts of the state.
Chief Justice Soumen Sen, Patron-in-Chief of the Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority, oversaw the programme.
Justice H.S. Thangkhiew, Executive Chairman, along with Justice W. Diengdoh, Chairperson of the High Court Legal Services Committee, supervised it.
Chief Justice Soumen Sen attended the Lok Adalat proceedings at Tura in West Garo Hills district, where he interacted with advocates and litigants.
Meanwhile, Justice HS Thangkhiew and Justice W. Diengdoh were present at the Lok Adalat sessions held at the High Court of Meghalaya, the District Court in East Khasi Hills, Shillong, and the District Council Court of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council.
