Meghalaya: Garo Hills devastated by floods, over 6.51 lakh affected
Guwahati: Recent heavy rainfall has triggered catastrophic floods and landslides in Garo Hills, Meghalaya affecting 246 villages and impacting 6,51,083 people.
Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Kyrmen Shylla described the situation as "one of the worst" faced by the region.

So far, at least 15 fatalities and six injuries have been reported with over 347 houses being damaged across 246 villages.
Several relief camps were established in South and West Garo Hills.

Officials stated that the government is currently focusing on evacuation and relief efforts.
West Garo Hills had over 132 villages affected. The district reported 93 houses being damaged with five deaths and three injuries.
