Meghalaya: Four from Assam arrested for alleged sexual assault on minor girls
Guwahati: At least four individuals were arrested by the Meghalaya Police for their alleged involvement in the sexual assault of two minor girls near the Chenga Benga Mela venue in South East Garo Hills (SWGH) on April 17.
The arrested individuals hail from South Salmara in Assam, reports stated.
Police said that the individuals allegedly subjected the two minor girls to sexual assault and physically assaulted their male companions before escaping to Assam.

Following the registration of three separate cases at the Ampati police station, SWGH police initiated an investigation.
On April 23, two individuals were arrested, with two more apprehended on Wednesday in a collaborative operation conducted by the Meghalaya and Assam police.

Police officials said that the two suspects were apprehended by the Assam police from Hatsingimari yesterday.
Another was arrested from Rajabala while boarding a night bus bound for Guwahati while the fourth suspect was detained in Teporpara near the Assam-Meghalaya border.
All four arrested have been remanded to police custody for five days.
