Guwahati: Former KHADC MDC Donkupar Sumer has retaliated against Voice of the People Party (VPP) chief Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit by filing an FIR accusing Basaiawmoit of theft, cheating, forgery, and misappropriation of funds during his tenure as the Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the KHADC in Meghalaya.

Sumer alleged that Basaiawmoit unlawfully diverted public funds under the guise of purchasing land for the council.

The FIR, lodged at Lumdiengjri police station, claims that Basaiawmoit's actions resulted in the misallocation of Rs 35,25,039 from the council's accounts.

Sumer claimed that the purported sale deed was invalid and never registered, rendering the land acquisition null.

Moreover, Sumer stated that Basaiawmoit terminated seven employees of the council citing lack of funds, only to hire 12 individuals of his choosing. Basaiawmoit had previously filed an FIR against Sumer, refuting allegations of misappropriation and accusing Sumer of defamation for falsely accusing him of embezzlement during a public meeting.

Basaiawmoit argued that Sumer's statements were made to tarnish his reputation as an elected member of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly.
