Meghalaya: BJP's AL Hek awaits high-command decision on Shillong seat candidacy
Shillong: BJP leader and cabinet minister AL Hek has refrained from confirming his candidacy for the Shillong parliamentary seat in Meghalaya for the forthcoming Lok Sabha election.
Hek responded to inquiries regarding a request from party legislator Sanbor Shullai, who advocated for Dr Fenela Lyngdoh Nonglait's nomination from the Shillong seat.

Emphasizing the party's prerogative in candidate selection, Hek stated, "Every individual has their own opinion... but the party will decide who will contest the election."
He further added, "I have already told the party will decide... If the party decides who will contest, I will contest."

Shullai had previously disclosed his discussion with Hek on the necessity for both MLAs to urge the party high command to nominate Lyngdoh for the Shillong seat candidacy.
