Meghalaya BJP minister AL Hek confident of NPP victory in Tura & Shillong Lok Sabha seats
SHILLONG: Meghalaya BJP leader and cabinet minister AL Hek has voiced his optimism regarding the National People’s Party's (NPP) prospects in both the Shillong and Tura parliamentary constituencies, where elections were held on April 19.
Both the Lok Sabha seats in Meghalaya witnessed a triangular contest, with the NPP, Congress, and the Voice of the People Party (VPP) vying for victory.
Hek expressed firm belief in the NPP emerging victorious in both constituencies in Meghalaya.
Dismissing allegations that the BJP was undermining the NPP’s electoral chances, Hek emphasized that the BJP had unequivocally instructed its workers in Meghalaya to support the NPP.
Responding to concerns about the BJP fielding its own candidates in future elections, Hek clarified that the BJP’s support for the NPP in the current elections was temporary.
He affirmed that the BJP would contest future Lok Sabha elections in Meghalaya with its own candidates.
