Meghalaya aims to become 10 billion dollars economy by 2028

SHILLONG: The Meghalaya government is aiming to make the state a 10 billion dollars economy by the year 2028.

This was informed by Meghalaya governor Phagu Chauhan while addressing the state’s assembly in Shillong on Friday (February 17).

Meghalaya governor Phagu Chauhan said that the state government has set an ambitious target to double the state GDP and make it a 10 billion US dollars economy by 2028.

“Sectors like infrastructure, power, water supply, investment promotion, IT, tourism and agriculture will drive the economic growth necessary for achieving that target,” the Meghalaya governor said.

He further said that the policies of the NPP-led Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) government in the state envisions doubling the farmers’ income.

The Meghalaya governor further said that the state government is committed to upgrade the existing infrastructure in schools.
