SHILLONG: Vincent H Pala, the Meghalaya Congress president, expressed optimism about the party's resurgence in the Northeast state ahead of the 2028 assembly polls.

A former three-time Lok Sabha MP, Pala highlighted the recent electoral triumph of the Congress in the Tura Lok Sabha constituency in Meghalaya as a pivotal moment that has bolstered the party's strength.

“The assembly elections in the state are still far away. Nothing is certain. The NPP might course-correct, and the VPP could stumble. It's premature to make predictions,” Meghalaya Congress president Vincent Pala said.

“While I won’t delve into specifics, electoral outcomes remain unpredictable. Politics is dynamic and far more intricate than it seems,” he said.

Responding to speculations regarding former Congress leaders potentially re-joining the party, Pala dismissed them as mere rumours.

“I don’t foresee it happening. There has been no communication from any quarters, not even from Dr Mukul Sangma,” he clarified.
