Cherrapunji Eastern Craft Gin unveils its Meghalayan Mountain Berry Gin with Cherry Blossom
Guwahati: Cherrapunji Eastern Craft Gin on Sunday announced the release of its newest expression, Mountain Berry Gin with Cherry Blossom.
Distilled from rainwater and built on an unsweetened, uncoloured foundation, the gin draws its character from the high-altitude terrains of Cherrapunji and Mawsynram, among the wettest regions on earth. The launch marks a continued commitment to capturing the terroir, flora, and seasonal identity of Meghalaya’s highlands.
The profile is shaped by an interplay of cherry blossom petals and the sweet-tart Khasi Sohiong berry, which together create a natural pink hue. Taro root and chamomile provide a quiet structural softness, giving way to mandarin and lime peel. The expression is defined by an unmasked distillate: no sweeteners, no colouring, no additives to distort or enhance. What remains is a clear transmission of the ingredient itself and its place of origin.
The botanical composition includes:
Sohiong berries (Meghalayan mountain berries)
Cherry blossom petals
Taro root
Chamomile
Eastern Himalayan juniper berries
Khasi mandarin
Kaji Nemu
These components deliver a lush, floral, citrus-forward profile informed directly by highland ecology. The deep berry tone and its gentle sweetness come solely from Sohiong berries and the textural body of taro. When served over ice or lengthened with tonic or soda, the concentrated colour softens into a clean, pale pink derived entirely from natural berry and blossom pigments. Aromatics rise in sequence: juniper, berry brightness, and restrained florals.
Palette: lush, silken, sweet-tart
Nose: floral, citrus, juniper
Finish: lingering, floral, berry-led
A defining element of the release is its integrated pour-measuring cap — a patent-applied jigger mechanism built into the bottle to ensure precision with every serve. The packaging continues the brand’s stainless-steel architecture, with selectively applied deep-gold embossing that behaves like metalwork rather than decoration. The result is a form that advances the original design language while remaining unmistakably itself.
