Guwahati: Amidst facing scarcity of water in the region, Tura has issued an Order under Section 144 Cr PC that all car wash servicing activities within the Tura Municipality are permitted only on Mondays and Thursdays and car wash servicing centres are prohibited from using bore wells.

Meghalaya Legislative Assembly Channel took to X and wrote, “Further, the public is also advised to implement water conservation measures both in their households and within their localities, especially during periods of water shortage and also to refrain from car washing activities to reduce strain on water resources.”

This order shall come into force with immediate effect and remain in force until 15th May 2024. This order applies solely to the Tura Municipality area only.

“In view of the water shortage faced in each and every locality within the Tura Municipality area and to ensure efficient utilization of water resources in the area, the District Magistrate, West Garo Hills,” it added.
