Meghalaya has a transparent recruitment process: CM Conrad Sangma

SHILLONG: In a significant move towards bolstering the healthcare sector in Meghalaya, chief minister Conrad Sangma presided over the induction ceremony of 425 newly appointed junior specialists, medical officers and dental surgeons.

The event, held at the state convention centre in Shillong, was attended by Meghalaya health minister Ampareen Lyngdoh and PHE minister Marcuise N Marak, among other dignitaries.

During the ceremony, Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma extended his heartfelt congratulations to the newly inducted medical professionals and emphasized the importance of their role in serving society.

He urged them to approach their duties with unwavering commitment and a dedicated purpose to uplift the healthcare landscape of Meghalaya.

Addressing the gathering, Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma underscored the state government's commitment to ensuring a transparent and efficient recruitment process.

He reassured the newly appointed professionals that their selection was based solely on merit and their demonstrated capabilities.

“The recruitment process being conducted by the government is completely transparent. You are here because you are capable and you are the best and you have done well in the exam,” affirmed CM Sangma. highlighting the rigorous yet fair selection criteria followed by the government.

Furthermore, the Meghalaya chief minister acknowledged the challenges previously faced in the recruitment process within government departments.

The Meghalaya CM elaborated on the reforms implemented to streamline the process, particularly in the education and health sectors.

“We have segregated the recruitment process by establishing a board for education and health, which has simplified the process. In the past, the recruitment process was tedious and in some cases, it even took six years. The decision to create a separate recruitment board for education and health has ensured that the process for recruitment was speeded up and vacancies could be filled up,” Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma explained.

The establishment of dedicated recruitment boards for education and health has significantly expedited the hiring process, ensuring that critical vacancies are promptly filled.

This strategic approach aligns with the Meghalaya government’s overarching goal of strengthening key sectors and enhancing public service delivery.

Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma reiterated the state government’s unwavering commitment to fostering a conducive environment for healthcare professionals to thrive.

He expressed confidence that the newly inducted medical personnel would contribute significantly to the state's healthcare system, thereby improving access to quality healthcare services for all residents of Meghalaya.
