Shillong: The Trinamool Congress in Garo Hills has expressed strong objections to the Meghalaya Public Service Commission's (MPSC) clarification on the reassessment of OMR answer sheets for the MPSC (Preliminary) examinations, calling for an independent investigation into the matter.

Richard Marak, TMC youth leader, criticized the MPSC's response, stating it failed to address allegations of nepotism, favouritism, and inconsistencies in the reassessment process.

He demanded a comprehensive investigation into the entire process, including candidate selection and alleged irregularities.

Marak raised concerns about potential favouritism in the additional list of candidates, suggesting unfair advantages for individuals connected to prominent figures.

He also questioned the legality of the additional list, citing a possible violation of the 15:1 ratio stipulated in Advertisement paragraph 8(1).

The MPSC had earlier clarified that transparency and confidentiality were maintained during the reassessment process, but Marak stated that the commission's actions may have compromised the examination process's integrity.

The controversy surrounds the MPSC's decision to notify an additional list of 62 candidates qualified to appear for the MCS (Mains) examinations after reassessing OMR answer sheets, sparking accusations of nepotism and favouritism.
