Meghalaya SSA teachers demand job security, issue two-month ultimatum

Shillong: The Meghalaya SSA School Association (MSSSA) has given the state education department two months to implement a policy ensuring job security for Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) teachers.

At a recent general executive committee meeting, members prioritized service security over salary enhancement, seeking long-term job stability similar to other states.

Aristotle Rymbai, MSSSA president said, "We've chosen to pressure the government to secure SSA teachers' services, exploring both salary enhancement and service security".

The association demanded that the education department complete the formalities and submit the proposal to the state cabinet within two months.

Failure to meet this demand may lead to "democratic agitation", warned Rymbai.

To ensure their demands are met, MSSSA plans to meet with cabinet ministers, including Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, during the two-month period.

The Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan, launched in 2018, aims to integrate school education from pre-school to class XII.
