Shillong: Following conclusion of the Lok Sabha elections, the Meghalaya government has initiated a major reshuffle within the state's police force.

One of the most notable transfers involves inspector general Mukesh Kumar Singh, who has been removed from his law and order position and reassigned to the civil defence and home guards as inspector general-commandant general, a largely administrative role.

Additionally, East Khasi Hills SP Rituraj Ravi has been transferred back to the 6th MLP Battalion in Umran to serve as Commandant.

Meanwhile, West Garo Hills SP Dr Dara Aswaghosh has been appointed as the new Shillong City SP.

In their stead, the Meghalaya government has reinstated former SPs Sylvester Nongtnger and Abraham T Sangma to their previous positions.

Sylvester Nongtnger will serve as the new SP for East Khasi Hills, while Abraham T Sangma will take over as the SP for West Garo Hills.
