Meghalaya police prepares to fill over 3000 vacant posts

SHILLONG: The Meghalaya police is gearing up to commence the recruitment process to fill over 3000 vacant positions very soon.

These positions include 76 posts for unarmed branch sub-inspectors, 1255 for unarmed branch constables and 1637 for armed branch constables.

The recruitment will be conducted across five sectors, with the 1st Battalion in Mawiong overseeing the recruitment for its respective region, the 2nd MLP handling West Garo Hills, the 3rd Battalion Sahbsein managing Jaintia Hills, the 4th Battalion Sohpian overseeing West Khasi Hills, and the 5th Battalion in Williamnagar responsible for both East and South Garo Hills.

Online applications will be accepted starting from April 1.

Meghalaya director general of police (DGP) LR Bishnoi said that it marks the largest recruitment drive in the history of the Meghalaya police, further bolstering the force by adding over 3000 personnel.

The Meghalaya DGP emphasized the transparency of the recruitment process, assuring that there will be no room for manipulation through the Transparent Recruitment Process (TRP).

He also stated that the recruitment process will commence in full swing in Meghalaya after the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
