Guwahati: A mob attack on a family's home in Nongdiloin, South West Khasi Hills, Meghalaya, left five individuals, including a minor, injured and fearing for their lives.

The violence, suspected to be fueled by internal clan rivalry and control of the local market, occurred on Wednesday evening.

The victims, all members of the Paliar clan, were identified as Banteilang Paliar (16), Jim Paliar (36), Justarwell Paliar (23), Pyndapjingkyrmen Paliar (21), and Banrilang Nongsiej (36).

They are currently receiving treatment at NEIGRIHMS.

The incident began when Phaibor Paliar, the acting head of the Paliar clan, was returning home with friends and relatives.

They were accosted by a group of vehicles, which attempted to stop their car and pelted stones at it.

Upon reaching home, a mob of over 100 armed individuals tried to storm the residence, prompting Phaibor's father to fire warning shots from his rifle.

The police arrived shortly, dispersing the mob and launching an investigation into the attack.

The family has identified a few attackers, and the police are working to apprehend the perpetrators and determine the motives behind the violence.
