Meghalaya: Mawsynram Dorbar bans pilgrimage to Mawjymbuin Cave, KHNAM supports decision
Guwahati: The Khun Hynñiewtrep National Awakening Movement (KHNAM) has backed the Mawsynram dorbar's decision to prohibit pilgrimage to the Mawjymbuin cave, a popular tourist destination located 60 km from Shillong, Meghalaya.
The dorbar shnong's executive committee meeting on August 1 resolved to restrict the cave from becoming a place of worship for any group, citing its designation as a tourist attraction rather than a religious site.
KHNAM praised the decision, stating that it is not anti-religious but rather a stance against public worship at the cave.
The organisation noted that attempts had been made in recent years to convert the tourist spot into a religious site, and the dorbar's decision should be appreciated.
They warned that any attempts to defy the ban and proceed with the Kanwar Yatra or Bol Bam Yatra celebration would be considered forceful and unauthorized, and the district administration should take swift and stringent action against those involved.
