SHILLONG: The traditional Iewduh market in Shillong – the capital of Northeast state of Meghalaya – is all set to receive a major facelift.

The North Eastern Council (NEC) has allocated Rs 11 crores for development and beautification of Iewduh market (Barabazar) in Shillong, Meghalaya.

NEC secretary K Moses Challai said, “We (NEC) are going to revamp our good, poor and old Barabazar. We are going to revamp the whole market.”

However, the sanctioned amount, which has been approved by the NEC, is yet to be released.

“We are studying the DPR, which is around Rs 10-11 cr,” he added.
