Shillong: Four people, including three children, have died in West Jaintia Hills, Meghalaya, after consuming wild mushrooms.

The latest fatality was 56-year-old Ana Suchiang from Saphai village, who passed away on Sunday while undergoing treatment in the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) of NEIGRIHMS hospital.

Earlier, three siblings from the same village tragically lost their lives after ingesting wild mushrooms on May 28th. The deceased were identified as Wansalan Suchiang (14), Kitlang Suchiang (12), and Riwansaka Suchiang (8), children of Jumonlang Suchiang and Linus Sumer.

Another victim, Obar Sutnga (70), remains hospitalized at NEIGRIHMS battling severe complications, including fulminant hepatitis, blood clotting issues, and acute kidney injury, all linked to mushroom poisoning.

Doctors also reported a 12-year-old girl currently in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) suffering from acute mushroom poisoning, liver and kidney failure, and other related symptoms.
