SHILLONG: Leading up to the Lok Sabha elections, Meghalaya Congress has issued a cautionary appeal to the citizens of the state, urging them to remain vigilant against BJP’s influence and not be swayed by the saffron party’s nationalist rhetoric.

Briefing the media at the Congress Bhawan in Shillong, All India Congress Committee (AICC) Northeast Media Coordinator Matthew Anthony underscored the perceived injustices perpetrated by the ruling BJP government in Delhi since 2014, spanning economic, social and political domains.

While acknowledging past shortcomings of the Congress party, Anthony reiterated their commitment to rectifying mistakes and governing with the best interests of the people at heart.

He expressed confidence in the electorate's discernment and emphasized Congress's role as a viable alternative to address the injustices of the past decade.

Pointing to alarming unemployment rates in India, particularly among youth and the educated populace, Anthony questioned the BJP's governance approach and called for a focus on addressing real-life challenges rather than resorting to religious or other divisive tactics to divert public attention.
