Guwahati: In response to senior TMC leader Mukul Sangma's remarks on Congress's disconnect with ground realities, the Meghalaya Congress has accused the Trinamool Congress (TMC) of establishing a "secret understanding" with the BJP ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

This accusation follows the TMC's refusal to engage in seat-sharing negotiations in West Bengal, despite questioning Congress's actions in Meghalaya.

Ronnie V Lyngdoh, leader of the Congress Legislature Party (CLP), expressed disappointment over the TMC's stance, highlighting that the Congress was willing to consider a seat-sharing arrangement, even offering the Tura seat, had discussions in West Bengal been successful.

He raised "suspicions" about a potential undisclosed agreement between the TMC and the BJP, questioning the motives behind TMC's reluctance to collaborate with the Congress in Meghalaya.

Lyngdoh criticized the TMC for obstructing the consolidation of votes, which could have potentially led to the defeat of the BJP, whom he referred to as a communal party.
