Conrad Sangma felicitates winning athletes of 5th Meghalaya Games

Guwahati: The Chief Minister of Meghalaya Conrad Sangma on Monday felicitated over 1,170 athletes and their coaches from across the state who won in their respective disciplines in the 5th Meghalaya Games 2024 held in Tura.

Taking to X, the Chief Minister said, “Immensely proud to felicitate over 1170 Sports Achievers from across the state who won across disciplines in the 5th Meghalaya Games 2024 held in Tura.”

Sangma said that he was glad as the state government kept its promise of incentivising sportspersons.

“Glad that as a Government we are able to keep the promise of incentivising our sportspersons which is a big encouragement for their efforts and skills they exemplified during the Games,” he said.

The 5th Meghalaya Games took place from January 15-20 in Tura.

Apart from this, cheques worth Rs. 88.63 lakh were also handed over to Sports Achievers, Coaches and winners of the 6th Khelo India Youth Games.

“We are proud of our Under 18 Football Team for their winning streak in the recently concluded Youth Games. The team stayed undefeated in the Games and showed the winners’ spirit from the beginning. We congratulate them for bringing the trophy home,” he added.
