TURA: Meghalaya chief minister and national people’s party (NPP) president Conrad Sangma took matters into his own hands as he drove himself to the polling station in Tura and patiently waited for nearly three hours to cast his vote.

Arriving at the Walbakgre polling station at 6:30 am, Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma had hoped to be among the early voters.

However, he found himself waiting for an extended period before being able to exercise his franchise.

Conrad Sangma informed that he relieved his security personnel, driver, and team members to allow them the opportunity to cast their votes as well.

Opting to drive from his residence to the polling station, the Meghalaya chief minister emphasized the importance of every individual exercising their democratic right.

“Exercise your right to vote – it’s your voice, your power and your future. Every vote counts!” stated Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma.

He added: “When I reached the polling station around 6:30 am, there were around 200 people present at the polling station, which is a good message that people are participating in the voting process enthusiastically. A very good voter turnout can be seen in this election.”
