Guwahati: Meghalaya Health Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh has urged residents not to be concerned about side effects from COVID-19 vaccines, stating no such cases have been reported in the state.

The reaction came after controversies related to the admissions by AstraZeneca regarding rare side effects associated with their Covishield vaccine.

It may be mentioned that Covishield was widely used in Meghalaya during the pandemic.

Lyngdoh, citing limited research, said that only 7 out of every 1 million people experience side effects.

"This data is available statistically," she said.

She also said, "The central government may conduct further research, and we will wait for their updates."

She stated that Meghalaya will continue following guidance from the Ministry of Health.
