Imphal: Members of the Teli community, a small group residing in violence-plagued Manipur, have appealed to Governor Anusuiya Uikey to expedite the issuance of Permanent Residence Certificates (PRC) and Inner Line Permits (ILP).

The leaders of the community claimed that difficulties in obtaining these documents have exacerbated their challenges amid the ongoing unrest in Manipur.

A delegation of five representatives from the All Manipur Teli Association, led by secretary Ashok Prasad Sahu, met with the Governor at Raj Bhavan on Thursday to submit a memorandum outlining their concerns.

They reiterated earlier demands made in a May 17 memorandum, emphasizing that recent developments have heightened the community's need for PRC and ILP certificates.

The Governor assured the delegation of her support and directed them to submit copies of their grievances to the Chief Minister and Chief Secretary for further action.
