Steps to resolve Manipur unrest soon, says governor
IMPHAL: The central government is expected to take some concrete steps soon to address the unrest in strife-torn Manipur.
This was stated by Manipur governor Anusuiya Uikey.
She assured that the central government is committed to resolving the ongoing ethnic violence between the Kuki and Meitei communities in Manipur.
During a meeting at the Raj Bhawan in Imphal city of Manipur on Thursday (June 28), governor Uikey directed Churachandpur deputy commissioner, Dharun Kumar, to prioritize maintaining law and order in the district.
She stressed on the need of ensuring the safety and security of all residents and instructed the DC to launch training programs for displaced individuals under various government schemes.

The Churachandpur DC briefed the Manipur governor on the current situation in the district, detailing the conditions of approximately 14,000 displaced persons residing in relief camps.
He confirmed that essential supplies, including food and water, have been provided, along with educational materials for students.
Kumar reported significant progress on the construction of 500 temporary shelter homes sanctioned by the ministry of home affairs (MHA), expected to be completed by August.
Additionally, skill training programs for 100 youths in the hospitality sector are underway, and upcoming handloom and handicraft training sessions are planned for local artisans.
