Imphal: The Coordination Committee (CorCom), an apex body representing six banned militant outfits, has called for a total shutdown in Manipur on December 11 and 12, 2025, to boycott the proposed visit of President Droupadi Murmu to the state.

The shutdown will commence at 1:00 am on December 11, 2025, and will continue for the entire duration of the President's stay, according to a statement issued by M. Shak-Hen, Media Coordinator of CorCom.

President Murmu is scheduled to arrive in Manipur on December 11 to attend the observance of Nupi Lal on December 12, a state function held in memory of brave Manipuri women.

Reason for Boycott

CorCom strongly condemned and boycotted the visit, asserting that it is "not aimed at restoring peace, harmony or development." Instead, the group alleges that the visit would "further aggravate hostility among communities" due to what they termed the "proxy war adopted by the government at the centre."

The statement described the President's visit as an attempt "to suppress people’s aspirations" and urged the Manipuri people to join in condemning and boycotting the event.

CorCom is an umbrella body of the following six outlawed underground groups: the Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP), Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL), People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK), its Progressive faction (PREPAK-Pro), the Revolutionary People's Front (RPF) which is the political wing of the People's Liberation Army (PLA), and the United National Liberation Front (UNLF).

The militant committee clarified that several essential services will be exempted from the shutdown. These include medical services, fire services, water supply, media activities, and ritual-related activities.
