President Droupadi Murmu concludes Manipur visit, launches Rs 1,500 crore development projects
Imphal: President Droupadi Murmu on Friday concluded her two-day official visit to the border state of Manipur after launching development projects worth over Rs 1,500 crore, officials said.
On the second and final day of her maiden visit to the state, President Murmu visited Senapati district, which borders Nagaland to the north, and inaugurated six development projects.
She also laid the foundation stones for five other projects in the district.
Among the inaugurated projects were a model residential school for Rs 25 crore, two upgraded Primary Health Centres costing Rs 10 crore, and two Bailey Bridges constructed at Rs 11 crore.
The projects cover various sectors, including girls’ and boys’ hostels, policing and public safety, healthcare, community and tribal development, education, and other areas.
Addressing the gathering, President Murmu stated that the Government of India is working closely with local leaders, civil society, and communities to ensure development is inclusive and sustainable.
She added that the government recognises the aspirations of the people of Manipur and urged everyone to work towards the peace and prosperity of the state.
Notably, on Thursday, the first day of her visit, President Murmu laid the foundation stone for 14 projects worth Rs 1,180 crore and inaugurated 12 projects worth Rs 207 crore under various state government departments at a reception held at the City Convention Centre, Imphal.
After inaugurating multiple developmental projects, she returned to the national capital, officials said.
