Guwahati: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday highlighted Manipur’s community-driven development and women-led enterprises in the 129th episode of Mann Ki Baat, as he reviewed India’s achievements in 2025 and outlined priorities for the year ahead.

In a wide-ranging address covering national security, sports, science, culture and youth participation, the Prime Minister underlined how local initiatives from remote regions are contributing to India’s broader development narrative.

Manipur featured prominently through examples of renewable energy adoption and entrepreneurship rooted in traditional knowledge.

PM Modi praised Moirangthem Seth, a young innovator from a remote part of the state, for addressing chronic power shortages through a community-led solar initiative.

The effort, he said, has brought electricity to hundreds of households, strengthened healthcare delivery by powering local health centres, and supported livelihoods linked to fishing and the arts, while also empowering women.

He noted that such initiatives align with national renewable energy priorities, including the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, which provides financial support to households for installing solar panels.
The Prime Minister also highlighted women entrepreneurs from Manipur who are preserving traditional skills while creating sustainable incomes. He cited Margaret Ramtharsiem of Churachandpur, whose handicraft enterprise employs more than 50 artisans and has expanded to markets across India, including Delhi.
Another example was Chokhone Krichena from Senapati district, who has built a successful floriculture venture by blending traditional farming knowledge with market linkages.
“These stories show how tradition, combined with a modern outlook, can become a powerful engine of economic progress,” the Prime Minister said.
Reflecting on 2025, PM Modi referred to milestones in sports, space science, environmental conservation and cultural heritage, describing the year as one that strengthened national confidence despite challenges such as natural disasters.
He urged young Indians to engage in nation-building through platforms like the Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue and innovation forums including the Smart India Hackathon.
As the final episode of Mann Ki Baat in 2025, the Prime Minister called on citizens to carry forward the spirit of innovation, cultural pride and community service into 2026. He also flagged health awareness, cautioning against the indiscriminate use of antibiotics and encouraging people to stay fit during the winter months.
