Manipur’s NH-102B development gets boost as DC reviews ongoing NHIDCL projects
Imphal: India is focusing on the infrastructural development of National Highway 102B, also known as the Guite Road, which runs along the Manipur-Mizoram border.
It is a vital corridor that supports India’s Act East Policy and provides connectivity from Manipur’s southern frontier to Mizoram and Myanmar, with ongoing projects aimed at improving its connectivity.
Deputy Commissioner of Churachandpur, Dharun Kumar S, accompanied by Mualnuamz Thangboi Gangte, Additional District Commissioner, conducted a spot enquiry and reviewed ongoing projects under the National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation (NHIDCL) along NH-102B on Monday.
National Highway 102B branches off from NH-2 at Churachandpur (Lamka) in Manipur, connects to Mizoram’s NH-6 near Keifang, and serves as a crucial strategic and economic link, especially for tribal villages, though it is prone to landslides.
During the inspection, the DC expressed dissatisfaction with the pace of work, particularly in Packages 4A and 4B (between Songtal and Tuivai Bridge).
He directed NHIDCL officials to adopt a war-footing approach to execution, stressing the need to capitalize on the state’s limited working season.
He further instructed the completion of works under Packages 2A, 2B, 3A, and 3B, with a clear focus on achieving maximum physical progress during this period.
Later in the day, the Deputy Commissioner chaired a District Review Meeting at the Mualnuam Sub-Divisional Headquarters. The meeting was attended by ADC Mualnuam Thangboi Gangte, ADC Churachandpur Seiminthang Lenthang, District Level Officers (DLOs) from various departments, and representatives from NHIDCL.
The DLOs presented departmental overviews and highlighted their progress and achievements through PowerPoint presentations on various schemes and programmes. The review underscored the importance of coordinated efforts to ensure the timely implementation of development initiatives across the district.
The meeting concluded with a dinner hosted by ADC Mualnuam Thangboi Gangte.
