Manipur: Zeliangrong Naga students join Unity March to honor Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel
Imphal: Hundreds of students participated in a unity march organized at Longmai Common Ground in Manipur's Noney District Headquarters on Thursday morning as part of the celebrations of the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
Noney district in Manipur is predominantly inhabited by the Zeliangrong Naga tribes.
The march started from Longmai Common Ground and culminated at Longmai Noney Bridge on NH-37. The Sardar@150 Unity March was held on the theme Ek Bharat Atmanirbhar Bharat.
The march was flagged off by Noney ADM Stiff Khapudang from Longmai Common Ground in the presence of Noney SP Namsadai Peter Kamei and other Noney District Administration officials.
Rich floral tributes were paid to the Iron Man of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, before the start of the unity march.
A pledge on Aatmanirbhar Bharat, led by Noney ADC Stiff, was also taken by the gathering during the celebration.
Presentations of folk songs and cultural dance performances were among the major highlights of the programme.
The unity march was also attended by people from all walks of life, including students from different schools, volunteers from various CSOs, village authority members, and police personnel.
The Sardar@150 Unity March is a nationwide initiative honoring the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
It symbolizes his unparalleled role in unifying India. As part of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat, it aligns with the mission of Viksit Bharat and Atmanirbhar Bharat championed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The Unity March 2025 follows a well-defined multi-stage structure, bringing together district mobilizations and a national padyatra to honor Sardar Patel’s legacy.
